Our age-based Ballet/Tap classes are a fun introduction to the basic fundamentals of dance. United recognizes the importance of teaching proper vocabulary and technique from the start of a dance education. We use uplifting music, exciting props, and positive reinforcement to introduce our young students to the world of dance. The ballet portion of the class will teach students proper stretching technique, and introduce them to beginning ballet steps and choreography. The tap portion of the class uses the Al Gilbert methodology. Tap uses specialized shoes to make rhythmic sounds requiring quick footwork, outstanding balance, and impeccable rhythm. Students will progress through the leveled curriculum and learn fun tap combinations and routines.
Jazz is our popular class concept that infuses the funky style of hip hop with the technical side of jazz. Students will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations and flexibility. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement. We pride ourselves on being a family oriented dance studio and go out of our way to find clean age-appropriate music
The leveled tap program is for intermediate to advanced level dancers. Students will build upon previously learned tap skills along with incorporating new and more stylized steps. Tap requires quick footwork, outstanding balance, and impeccable rhythm. Students in our leveled tap program will be challenged with innovative choreography and combinations.
Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.
Exploring partnering and weight sharing exercises combined with basic techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract
Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills in this flexible Acro class!. Increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks
